Volunteering

Make a difference – Volunteer at Holy Cross

Our dedicated volunteers generously give their time and energy to help enrich the lives of patients at Holy Cross. Their compassion, creativity, and commitment bring patients and their families an element of normality, joy and companionship. We are grateful to each and every volunteer.

Why volunteer with us

Volunteers enable us to offer a wider range of activities to a greater number of patients.

Participating in activities provides patients with opportunities to push the limits of their rehabilitation. Social interactions also support emotional wellbeing and help patients feel connected.

We welcome volunteers from all walks of life and all corners of our local community. Whether you're looking to volunteer occasionally or become a regular part of our team, there's a place for you here.

Our volunteers span all age groups and bring a wide range of talents, hobbies, and life experiences. What they all share is a desire to do something that is meaningful and that’s what makes them truly special.

What you can do as a volunteer at Holy Cross

There are many ways to volunteer at Holy Cross. Here are just a few examples:

  • Engage with patients through arts and crafts, music, games, ball games, puzzles, baking, quizzes, and other fun activities.
  • Involve patients in community life by accompanying them on trips to local events such as festivals, theatre trips or a relaxing day at our seaside bungalow in Selsey.
  • Provide practical skills such as driving our patient minibus or taking patients to and from the wards and activities room.
  • Create live music experiences at our Friday afternoon concert. We are looking for musical talent to bring the benefits of live music to our patients.

A supportive community

As a volunteer, you’ll receive training and support to help you feel confident in your role. You will be part of a warm, welcoming team and will be invited to volunteer events so you can meet others, share stories, pick up new skills, and feel inspired by the impact you're making.

Ready to get started?

If you’re interested in volunteering with us, we’d love to hear from you!

Please contact Chelsea Levers, PA to the CEO on 01428 643311.

We’ll invite you in for an informal visit so we can get to know you and help you find a volunteering role that’s a great fit. We’ll provide you with a clear description about your role, so you understand what is involved. You’ll then be asked to complete a short application and provide two references.

To ensure the safety of our patients, we’ll also request a standard DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check before you start volunteering.

Thank you for considering joining us. We look forward to welcoming you.
