Coronavirus (COVID-19)
Who is most vulnerable
The most vulnerable are the elderly, people with weak immune systems, and people with pre-existing conditions such as diabetes, those recovering from strokes, and those with cardiovascular disease and respiratory diseases. For these groups, the current strain of coronavirus could cause severe symptoms, complications and in some cases death.
General advice about coronavirus
- If you feel unwell and have the symptoms of coronavirus (a cough, high temperature, tiredness and shortness of breath) you should not come into Holy Cross Hospital (nor visit your GP). Instead you should stay at home and contact NHS 111 for further advice by phone or through the online NHS 111 service. Please note, there isn’t an automatic requirement to self-isolate for 14 days – you will be advised what to do depending on your circumstances.
- If you have recently travelled to/from a country with a high risk of coronavirus please visit the NHS website and follow the country-specific advice.
- If you believe you may have come into contact with someone with coronavirus, self-isolate and contact NHS 111 for further advice. They will advise you what to do.
- Avoid inviting a family member or friend to stay with you if you believe they have symptoms of coronavirus, have travelled from a country with a high risk of coronavirus or have been in contact with somebody who has the virus.
